Liposuction – Say Bye to Excess Fat with Dr. Brzowski

May 21st, 2010

Many life changes, such as pregnancy, illness, accidents, etc, can change a person’s body shape and fat accumulation in the body and different organs. If you are a woman who has gone through pregnancy and childbirth, you probably know how it can cause you to get out of shape and to put on excess body fat in unwanted places. Liposuction, a commonly performed plastic surgery procedure in the Ogden/Salt Lake City area and other cities across the nation, is a safe and accepted medically supervised surgical procedure to remove excess fat.

Liposuction can be performed on several areas of the body, including the abdomen, buttocks, thigh, and upper arms. The procedure is usually done as an outpatient procedure under anesthesia. A suction device is inserted through small holes in the skin and the excess fat is removed with suction. The skin incisions should heal quickly, and complications from the procedure are rare. For many people who want a procedure done away from home, the adjacent cities of Ogden and Salt Lake City are a great destination.

Brzowski Plastic Surgery in the Ogden/Salt Lake City area offers special services for out of town patients who fly in for surgery. Not only can an individual recuperate in a warm climate after getting the procedure done, but after one or two days of rest a little site seeing can’t hurt. A gentle walk to help increase your circulation is recommended. You can even enjoy some of the different attractions that the city has to offer, although you shouldn’t exert yourself too much soon after surgery. Perhaps a visit to the many museums in the area, such as the Utah Museum of Fine Arts or the Utah Museum of Natural History, would be good, or maybe you could attend a play at one of the many theaters in the city, such as The Off Broadway Theater and the Salt Lake Acting Company. Walking, as much as is comfortable, is actually good for patients who have had liposuction in order to prevent the risk of blood clotting.

As far as cosmetic surgeries go, the recovery period for liposuction is relatively quick, with most patients returning to normal usually after two weeks. However, a little bit of swelling and bruising in the treated areas should be expected. Results are apparent once the swelling subsides. Although complications are rare, the most common ones include contour irregularities and unevenness.

If you are interested in having liposuction in the Ogden/Salt Lake City area, please feel free to contact Brzowski Plastic Surgery. We not only offer services to individuals residing in Utah, but we can help Out of Town Patients make arrangements.

In this corner migraine headaches, in the other corner Botox(tm)

February 20th, 2010

Recent studies have revealed what we’ve known for many years:  Botox(tm) helps migraine headaches.  Although the precise method by which this occurs is not completely known, a very real decrease in the intensity and frequency of migraine headaches has been seen when patients are treated with Botox(tm).  This most recent report indicated that patients with a “crushing” or “eye-popping” form of migraines benefited the most.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 2.5 million Botox(tm) procedures were performed last year.

So, just in case your friends all think you’re coming in for Botox(tm) for your wrinkles, you can certainly remind them that it works for migraines too!

Non-surgical Surgery;)

February 16th, 2010

As techniques advance in the area of facial rejuvenation, we are discovering more and more to do without a knife.  Dang!

A wide variety of non-surgical treatments continue to be developed and are yielding very nice results, providing some patients with options other than surgery. Botox(tm) and Juvederm(tm) remain the most popular non-surgical treatments for facial rejuvenation, but newer peels and lasers are rapidly catching up.

Check out the info at our Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Society website on one of these newer “tricks”:  http://www.surgery.org/media/news-releases/nonsurgical-technique-can-take-years-off-the-appearance-of-aging-eyes.

Of course, you are always welcome to come in and let us have a look and see what we recommend for your specific complaints.

Silicone breast implant patients get bonus gift.

February 4th, 2010

Here’s another wonderful reason to think about having us perform your breast augmentation.  www.natrelle.com/offer.

The company that provides our breast implants also makes Botox(TM), you made have heard of it;), and Latisse(TM).  Latisse(TM) is a prescription medication that encourages the growth of longer and fuller eyelashes.  My patients who have been using it have noticed a very appreciable change.  Like Botox(TM), it is hard to find a patient who didn’t love the improvement from using this product.  You really should check out the website, www.latisse.com for more info.

Now here’s the great part!  This company is making available to us a “bonus” gift for our patients that undergo breast augmentation using their silicone implants.  This gift includes a one month supply of Lattise(TM), a bottle of Vivite’(TM) – a skin rejuvenation product -a compact travel mirror and a nifty case to hold it all in.  The estimated value of this package is $300.

One word of caution, this offer lasts until 6/30/10 or until “supplies last.”  We’ve already had lots of patients take advantage of this bonus, so you may want to consider this before they’re all gone.

Until next time….

Merry Christmas To All

December 22nd, 2009

Santa's Elves at Work

Twas four nights before Christmas, and all through the office, lots of creatures were stirring and visiting our house…..
In years past, our office has celebrated the Holiday Season with a dinner party.  We’ve had gift exchanges and played a few “White Elephant” tricks on one another.  This year we decided to do something different.  Despite a difficult economy, and through the efforts of a loyal staff and wonderful group of patients, we’ve done very well.  While some plastic surgeons have had to close their offices, let employees go, return to doing more non-cosmetic surgical procedures such as hand surgery and general reconstructive work, and even some responded by advertising heavily, we’ve been blessed to be able to continue to run our practice without such measures.
As an outward sign of gratitude, and in order to give back to others who are deserving of a little extra Christmas cheer this season, we planned a different celebration.  Through local contacts, we identified a needy family in our community.  She then discovered several areas of need that they had which we proceeded to address.
Just this last evening, our office staff gathered at our home.  We shared in too many sweets and lots of warm tea and hot cocoa.  Everyone was then officially made one of Santa’s Elves and given a task to perform.  We split up in small groups to shop for gifts and presents for the family in need.
Upon everyone’s return the gifts were wrapped and prepared for delivery (see photos).  Another round of sweets and drink completed the evening.  We all went to bed with a real sense of the Christmas spirit and a thankfulness of what the past year has brought us.
Please keep our troops who are not able to be with their families at this time in your thoughts and prayers.   Remember the less fortunate and those who would appreciate the kindness of your charity.
God Bless.
