Buttock Lift Utah
Buttock Lift Overview
The buttock lift procedure is designed to elevate the buttock region. This helps smooth out areas of cellulite and dimpling and repositions the buttock tissue into a more desirable location. Most patients who request this procedure have had significant weight loss through either a surgical weight loss procedure or diet and exercise, or they have simply had sagging tissue develop through aging and gravity. Because the buttock tissue often droops in conjunction with the outer thighs and is frequently accompanied by changes in the abdominal area, it is most typical to have a buttock lift performed as part of a body lift or with an outer thigh lift. Nonetheless, it is an effective stand alone procedure for patients whose only concern is the looseness or cellulite in the buttock region. Liposuction is a procedure that we will perform in combination with this procedure if there are fat deposits that are bothersome to the patient.
Importantly, we will work with you to position the scar in the most favorable location, and any tattoos will be avoided if at all possible.
Risks of a Buttock Lift
As with any operation, there are risks of bleeding, poor healing, infection, dissatisfaction with the results, and complications from the anesthetic such as blood clots and etc. Certain behaviors around the time of your surgery can influence your risks of problems such as smoking and failing to follow instructions regarding wound care and activities. Specifically, smokers are required to discontinue smoking a minimum of 3 weeks prior to surgery and not resume smoking until proper healing as been verified.
Buttock Lift Recovery Period
Soreness after this procedure is usually very manageable. It is a moderately extensive procedure, so you will be provided sufficient narcotic pain medication to assist with pain relief, and it is expected that you’d be able to return to light duties around 2 weeks from the date of the procedure. It is advisable for you to remain flat and upright, with minimal flexing at the waist until enough looseness has developed for you to be able to bend forward. This usually becomes possible in 5-7 days. It is absolutely necessary that you do avoid bending forward until you sense that the tension across the lower back/upper buttock area has subsided enough for you to do more. Otherwise, you run the risk of tearing open the incision.
Two drains are usually placed under the skin of the surgical area. You will be instructed on how to care for them, and they are removed in the office when they are draining a low enough amount to make their removal safe.
